Bishop Alberto Rojas, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago and Chair of NCADDHM (National Catholic Association of Diocesan Directors of Hispanic Ministry) sent an invitation to Bishop Robert Baker to an orientation program for Vicars, directors and diocesan leaders that serves the Hispanic Community. Bishop Baker assigned the Vicar of Hispanic Ministry Fr. Mark Spruill, and Marthamaria Morales to participate. Thanks to the sponsorship of Loyola Press and CRS they traveled to The Savior Center in Kansas City KS.
The NCADDHM orientation program for new diocesan vicars / directors includes an introduction to:
*History of Hispanic Ministry in the U.S.
*National Catholic documents on Hispanic Ministry.
*Reality of Multiculturalism in the U.S.
*Role and responsibilities of a diocesan director.
*Best practices of Hispanic Director.
*Assistance in managements skills.
*Visioning and planning.
The Department of Religious Educations, Lay Ministry, Black Ministry, Evangelization and Hispanic Ministry,
Gave out 40 scholarships to people who wanted to become “Bridge Builders” taking an online Couse partnering
With the USSB, Notre Dame, SEPI and STEP/CAMINO. (camino.nd.edu)
Bishop Baker hosted a luncheon to congratulate the participants who were certified on: Building Intercultural
Competence for Ministries (Bilingual). We keep learning, preparing , sharing, and enjoying the gift of ministry
and mission in our diocese.
The Diocesan Hispanic Young Adult core team,
meets once a month, during this time together at the Chancery
where they feel at home, they were able to share new tools and ways
to evangelize like using FORMED.
Also received the visit of the Pilgrim Our Lady of Guadalupe that came
from the PASTORAL LATINIAMERICANA, during the last meeting in Mexico (CELAM @PJLatinoamericana)
