John Carroll Alumni Appreciation
Event to be held on Sept. 21
All John Carroll Catholic High School alumni are invited to attend the annual Alumni Appreciation event at the 2018 homecoming football game on Friday, Sept. 21. Food and fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. at the tent located at Pat Sullivan Field at John Carroll.

'Woman in the World of Jesus' retreat to be offered in Cullman, Sept. 5
The Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman will host an upcoming retreat in which women will be afforded the opportunity to “rest in the Lord” and to explore the Scriptures showing Christ’s willingness to go against cultural norms to recognize the dignity of women, and to include them in his life, ministry, and mission.
The retreat, which will begin on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5, and will conclude the following afternoon, will be led by Sister Marian Davis, O.S.B. The cost of the retreat is $125 for a private room and $105/person for shared. A day rate is available, as is an additional night of retreat for those who wish.

St. Michael Church to hold Labor Day Barbecue
St. Michael’s Church Labor Day chicken stew and barbecue picnic will be held Monday, Sept. 3. The church is located at 2751 County Road 30 in St. Florian. Selling begins at 6 a.m. until the food runs out. Menu and prices are: barbecue pork $9.50 per pound; $40 per whole Boston butt; chicken stew $5 per quart; $10 half gallon, $20 gallon; half chicken $5 and $10 whole.

Healing Mass set for Sept. 5

Reflection Day on Spirituality
at Benedictine Retreat Center
The Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman is pleased to present a one-day retreat entitled Letting Go and Letting God: The Wisdom of Twelve-Step Spirituality. The event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Retreat Center.
Letting God’s will and loving care uphold and direct our lives requires an ever-deepening process of surrender that is described in all genuine spiritual traditions yet uniquely articulated through the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The day will focus on the core principles of Twelve-Step spirituality and the gift of spiritual freedom that is experienced when these principles are put into practice.
The retreat day will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. The fee for the day is $30 and includes
