Across: Father Tolton film screening and presentation to take place
at St. Mary's in Fairfield
Join the St. Mary's parish community in Fairfield at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 for the screening of a short film about Venerable Augustine Tolton, America's first black Catholic priest.
The film Across dramatizes Tolton's attempt to escape slavery at the age of 10 in 1863. It is the first chapter of a 2-hour feature film about "Father Gus" that is in development with Bolder Pictures.  The writer/director of the film will be on-hand after the screening to give a presentation about Father Tolton's life and his path to sainthood. Afterward, he will be available to answer questions about this American hero as well as the film.
