"The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy
with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the
life of the Holy Trinity."  – Blessed John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae 5

The Diocese of Birmingham Office of Religious Education, following the initiatives and guidelines of the Bishop, serves the catechetical ministry of all parish religious education and faith formation programs. It gives support to all catechists and parish catechetical leaders who are called to the work of catechesis in this diocese and seeks to provide guidance and encouragement to all participating young people and their families as they journey on the path of faith.

The Office of Religious Education oversees the Diocese of Birmingham Catechetical Institute,, a pastoral initiative of the Most Reverend Robert J. Baker, which provides an online catechetical formation program leading to catechist certification.
