Benedictine Sisters to host ‘Holy Pauses’ retreat, Jan. 27-29

Friday, January 27, 2017

Benedictine Sisters to host 'Holy Pauses' retreat, Jan. 27-29
Creating Holy Pauses retreat to incorporate art into daily prayer will be held at the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman, Jan. 27-29.
Across the centuries, people have paused at different hours of the day to pray. This retreat will bring a creative component to such holy pauses as participants are guided in a variety of prayerful art experiences. There will also be opportunities for personal reflection, scheduled spiritual direction, and participation in the Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist with the monastic community. Materials will be supplied, although participants are encouraged to bring a journal.
The retreat will be led by Shelley Szoka, a spiritual director who has studied education, fine and graphic arts, and mandala interpretation. She incorporates expressive arts into spiritual direction.
The weekend will begin on Friday evening and conclude with the noon meal on Sunday. The $270 cost for a private room includes art supplies, lodging, and meals. Shared rooms are available at $230/person.
For more information or to register, please contact the Retreat Center at 256-734-8302 or by e-mail at retreats@shmon.org.
